We depart Fes and travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and Azrou, near the Cedar Forest where Barbary macaques live. We continue through the lush Ziz Valley to Erfoud, famous for its fossils, before arriving in Merzouga. Enjoy a camel trek across the golden dunes, followed by traditional Berber tea, dinner, live drum music, and overnight in a Sahara desert camp.
Wake early to witness sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, explore the desert by 4×4. Visit Khamlia village for a live Gnawa music performance, drive along former Paris–Dakar Rally routes, and enjoy panoramic views of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Meet nomadic families and share tea while learning about their desert lifestyle. Free afternoon. Dinner and overnight at a desert hotel
We leave the desert and head toward Tinghir, stopping at the impressive Todra Gorges and the surrounding palm grove. After lunch, continue through the fragrant Valley of Roses and the Berber village of Boutghrar, where we share tea with a local family. Travel along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, stopping to admire kasbahs, valleys, and cave-dwelling nomads. Visit Amridil Kasbah in Skoura, then continue to Ouarzazate and visit the Taourirt Kasbah. Dinner and overnight in Ouarzazate.
Visit the legendary Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and famous film location. Continue to the historic Telouet Kasbah before crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m). Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon and end the tour at your accommodation or preferred location.
