7-Day Sahara Tour from Fes to Marrakech
This 7-day tour from Fes to Marrakech takes you through Morocco’s most diverse landscapes—from ancient imperial cities and lush valleys to the golden dunes of the Sahara and the peaks of the Atlas Mountains. Upon arrival at Fes Airport, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel. Time to relax after your journey. Overnight in Fes.
After breakfast, enjoy a guided visit of Fes, Morocco’s oldest imperial city and spiritual capital. Explore the historic Fes el-Bali Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s largest preserved medieval cities. Visit the Al Quaraouiyine Mosque and University, the oldest university in the world, founded in 880. Overnight in Fes.
We depart Fes and cross the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco.” Continue to Azrou and the Cedar Forest, home to Barbary macaques. We then drive through the lush Ziz Valley toward Erfoud, famous for its fossils, before arriving in Merzouga. Enjoy a camel trek into the Sahara, followed by traditional Berber tea, dinner, live drum music, and overnight in a desert camp.
Wake early to watch the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast and a shower, we leave the desert and head toward Tinghir, visiting the impressive Todra Gorges and the nearby palm groves. We continue through scenic landscapes to Boumalne Dades and the Dades Gorges, where dramatic rock formations shape the valley. Dinner and overnight in the Dades Valley.
Travel through the Dades Valley and the fragrant Valley of Roses toward Ouarzazate, where we visit the Taourirt Kasbah. Continue to the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and famous filming location. We then cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass and arrive in Marrakech. Overnight in Marrakech.
After breakfast, enjoy a guided city tour of Marrakech. Visit the Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs, and Bahia Palace, then walk through the lively Jemaa el-Fna Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overnight in Marrakech.
